Kids, Koffee and collecting cash for Claire

Many of you in the Chelmsford / Essex region may have heard the moving story of Claire Diss and her battle with Motor Neurone Disease (MND)/Lyme disease despite only being in her early 30s (and with a young family). As you can read on Claire’s fundraising page; in just a few months, Claire’s condition has worsened considerably and the medical profession in the UK have now diagnosed her with ALS – the most progressive form of MND with a life expectancy of 2-5 years. The good news is that there is treatment available. However, this treatment is only available in the US and is expected to cost in the region of £100,000.

On Thursday 3rd March, Laura Watson and her generous staff at Kids and Koffee – a fantastic soft play centre and coffee shop in Chelmsford (go and check it out if you haven’t already) – organised a Fun Day / coffee morning to raise money for Claire. I had the privilege of taking some photos of this fun-filled and charitable event.

There was yummy food, awesome raffle prizes and perhaps most exciting of all – a visit from Disney’s Little Mermaid herself: Ariel. So keep scrolling to find out exactly what we ate, the prizes we won and how much fun we had “under the sea”…

Food Glorious Food

All diets were thrown out of the window as we chomped down on a selection of gorgeous chocolate brownies, beautifully-iced cupcakes and an irresistible cream sponge. Even looking at the photos makes me feel hungry!

In it to win it!

The raffle offered a range of fantastic prizes; from toys to cakes and from candles to photoshoots. A big thank you to everyone who donated to the raffle and to all of you who purchased a ticket – I hope you were one of the lucky winners!  I’m especially looking forward to meeting the winner of a free family shoot with me – I can’t wait to capture some brilliant shots of you and your family.

Fun fun fun!

With raffle tickets bought, the taste of cakes still lingering on our lips and still a little while to wait before our very famous visitor arrived, there  was plenty of time to make use of the excellent play equipment at Kids and Koffee and have lots of fun with friends and family.

A very special visitor!

Finally the time had arrived to meet our very special visitor Ariel. We had lots of fun listening to her story and helped her to act out all her favourite parts.

Some of us even got the chance to have a hug with Flounder!

And who doesn't love playing with bubbles and ribbons? We even shook our maracas!

Some of us also got a chance to have our photos taken with Ariel herself before she dived back into the deep blue sea...

But most importantly of all, Kids and Koffee raised a fantastic £230 to go towards Claire’s treatment. A big thank you to everyone who took part in this brilliant event.
