What makes me unique
We are all unique, not simply because of a single genetic characteristic - such as sexuality, gender or body type - but as a result of our individual life experiences, values and beliefs.
My biggest passion is not only reflecting, but celebrating your uniqueness through my photography.
Prior to being a professional photographer, I worked with children with special educational needs and later with adults with dementia. In both roles, it was my responsibility to ensure that these vulnerable and often over-looked members of society had access to the same opportunities and services within their communities as everyone else.
When I then started my photography business, I wanted to make sure that I not only catered to couples who would look perfectly at home on the cover of vogue and had bags of confidence but also bring out the best in people who may be a little shy or not feel photo-worthy. I love photographing people of all backgrounds, genders, ages, faiths and sexualities. Growing up gay; experiencing struggles with accepting who I was and having difficulty fitting in at various moments throughout my school years and early career, has helped me to understand and empathise with people who have experienced feeling overlooked, disregarded or misunderstood by certain service providers and professionals. I believe strongly in celebrating and embracing our own uniqueness, and I feel privileged to be able to help people love who they are through my photography.
I therefore soon realised that what sets me apart from other photographers has nothing to do with how I edit my photos or the kit that I use. What makes me unique as a photographer is how much I value diversity and believe in making photography an enjoyable and inclusive experience for you. Everyone deserves to feel special when they are being photographed and to feel part of the creative process.
How you feel when you have your photograph taken is as important to me as how you look in the resulting images.
We all look our best when we are relaxed and with those we love, and so it's my job to incorporate your ideas and eradicate your concerns. I may be the expert in photography but you are the expert on you, so it is essential that we work collaboratively to produce photographs that aren't just stylish and creative but that also reflect who you are.
Whether you are a shy bride, a fantastically dysfunctional family or a loud-and-proud couple, I am here to listen to your story, understand your wishes and tell your unique story.
